Jamie Myatt, and a company built on the jobs nobody wanted
Home Style Electric started in 2009 and incorporated in 2011. It is family-owned, it is based in Dartmouth, and it is still run by the electrician who does the work.
Jamie is a red seal journeyman electrician. He started Home Style Electric by concentrating on the little jobs that other companies would not take the time to do — the single dead outlet, the fixture nobody could reach, the half-finished basement circuit that had been bothering someone for two years.
That turned out to be a reasonable way to build a business in Dartmouth. People who called about one outlet called back about the panel. The work grew into service upgrades, fuse-to-breaker panel changes and aluminum wiring remediation for older homes across the Halifax Regional Municipality — but the small jobs never came off the list, and they still get booked.
The standards have not moved either. Work is done to the Canadian Electrical Code or better. The site gets cleaned up before he leaves. And he does not consider a job finished until the person who hired him is satisfied with it.

We hired Jamie's company last year after we bought a new house. The work was to remodel the electric wiring for a large house and install a separate 30 amp panel (to make two services in the house) and convert my old oil/hotwater heating to electric. Jamie and his people did the work very professionally and their price was very fair. He took care of all the communications with NS Power inspectors and made sure the inspection went as smoothly as possible. I also find Jamie is a very honest and kind person. I trust his work. It has been over 15 years since I owned my first house and hired numerous contractors for house fixes. Jamie is the best one.

I meet Jamie a few years back when I hired him to replace my panel before selling my house and I have been using his company ever since. Jamie and his boys good work for me every time I needed them. I have a number of rental properties and he is definitely my go-to guy when I need electricians.
